Former Metropolitan Opera soprano Lynn Owen will perform a musical theatre tribute at The Algonquin's Oak Room on Nov. 15 at 8 PM. The evening begins with a 6:30 dinner and will include discussion of her Grammy nominated CD. Owen's tribute, titled "Vienna to Broadway & Beyond" is dedicated to the musical theatre of the "past, present and future," and includes works from Owen's CD as well as works by Gershwin, Puccini and Sondheim. Musical direction is by Robert Hess.
The Algonquin's Max Darling told Playbill On-Line that tickets are selling fast for the musical theatre tribute, with about 30 remaining. Owen's last tribute in June sold out.
