News Musical Theatre Works Hosts Panels on Urinetown, Hairspray, Hedwig Musical Theatre Works, the not-for-profit theatre dedicated to the development and production of new American musical theatre, will present a "Making Of" series beginning Nov. 4.

Musical Theatre Works, the not-for-profit theatre dedicated to the development and production of new American musical theatre, will present a "Making Of" series beginning Nov. 4.

As part of its third "Musical Theatre Month," the series will include chats with the creators of Urinetown, Hairspray, Flower Drum Song and other Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals. The complete list, as of press time, follows:

 

 

  • Monday, November 4: to be announced

  • Wednesday, November 6: Urinetown (with Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis)
  •  

     

  • Monday, November 11: Hairspray (with Tom Meehan, Mark O'Donnell, Scott Wittman, Jack O'Brien, Jerry Mitchell and Marc Shaiman)
  •  

     

  • Tuesday, November 12: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (with John Cameron Mitchell)
  •  

     

  • Wednesday, November 13: Flower Drum Song (with David Henry Hwang, Robert Longbottom and Ted Chapin)   Tickets for each of the "Making Of" series are priced at $25 and are available by calling (212) 677-0040, ext. 312. Musical Theatre Works is located at 440 Lafayette Street and, on Monday nights, at the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan (334 Amsterdam Avenue at 76th Streets).

    All conversations begin at 7 PM and will be moderated by industry veterans. Proceeds go towards the Resident Writers program, supporting a new generation of emerging artists.
