News   My First Time Opens Off-Broadway July 30
My First Time, the new Off-Broadway production that has garnered quite a bit of attention since beginning previews, will officially celebrate its opening night July 30. Previews began July 12.

Ken Davenport (Altar Boyz, Awesome 80's Prom) produces My First Time, a new play in the style of The Vagina Monologues, featuring stories and anecdotes about people's first sexual experiences.

Davenport directs a cast of four that includes Bill Dawes, Josh Heine, Kathy Searle and Cydnee Welburn. Matthew A. Smith designed the production.

"In 1998," press notes read, "a decade before blogging began, a website was created that allowed people to anonymously share their own true stories about their First Times. The website became an instant phenomenon as over 40,000 stories poured in from around the globe that were silly, sweet, absurd, funny, heterosexual, homosexual, awkward, shy, sexy and everything in between. And now, these true stories and all of the unique characters in them are brought to life by four amazing actors in the acclaimed 90 minute play, My First Time."

My First Time features original music written specifically for, or relating to, first sexual experiences. Davenport is in negotiations to produce an album of the material with Kurt Deutsch of Sh-K-Boom Records.

The open-ended run plays New World Stages, located at 340 West 50th Street. Tickets, priced $25, are available by calling (212) 239-6200. For more information visit
