The American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada, which represents the orchestra's musicians, and the National Arts Centre agreed to the new contract on January 15, and the orchestra members ratified the contract three days later.
Christopher Deacon, managing director of the NACO, said of the agreement, "Both parties worked very hard during the negotiations, and we are pleased to have concluded a good deal for our valued musicians."
The NAC Orchestra was founded in 1969 to be the resident orchestra of the new National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Conductor and violinist Pinchas Zukerman has been music director of the ensemble since 1998.
