Classic Arts News Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg Withdraws From Recital With Sciatica Violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg has cancelled tonight's performance at Alice Tully Hall due to severe sciatica, her spokeswoman confirmed today.
The concert was to be presented by the Naumburg Foundation, which gave Sonnenberg its violin award in 1981. It will not be rescheduled.

Sonnenberg plans to play her upcoming concerts, including one in Philadelphia on March 21, as scheduled, according to the spokesperson.

Sciatica refers to pain that flares along the path of the sciatic nerves, which start in the lower spine and end in the foot. Discomfort can range from mild to incapacitating, and may be accompanied by tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness.
