News Natascia Diaz Will Join Composer Scott Alan for Free Kennedy Center Concert; Evening in Germany to Follow Composer and lyricist Scott Alan will celebrate his third album, "What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up - The Songs of Scott Alan," with a free concert May 24 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Millennium Stage.

The 6 PM concert will feature the composer as well as Mykal Kilgore (Hair), Natascia Diaz (Carousel) and cellist Mairi Dorman-Phanuef (Wonderland). Alan will offer songs and stories about the creation of his songs.

The concert will also be streamed live by visiting www.kennedy-center.org/millennium. The Kennedy Center is located at 2700 F Street in Washington.

On July 20 Alan will make his concert debut in Germany at the Hamburger Kammerspiele in Hamburg. The composer will be joined by Wicked’s Willemijn Verkaik, who will sing through Alan's songbook in both English and German. Other guests will include Volkan Baydar, Konstantin Rethwisch and Serkan Kaya. Tickets are available by visiting http://www.represent.de/wepresent-en.php.

A CD signing will follow the concert.

Scott Alan wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical Detour, which was seen in Los Angeles. His current theatre projects include Piece, which was featured at the 2003 Palo Alto TheatreWorks festival, the 2005 NAMT festival and the 2007 Festival of New Musicals at Village Theatre; and the song cycle The Warmth of the Womb. He also produces the monthly Monday Nights, New Voices concert at the Duplex. Alan's newest recording, "What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up," is now available on CDbaby.com, Amazon.com and iTunes. "What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up" follows Alan's earlier studio recordings, "Dreaming Wide Awake" and "Keys."
