PlayMakers is the professional theatre company in residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. All performances will be presented at UNC's Center for Dramatic Art on Country Club Road.
Shakespeare's Pericles is part of the troupe's Mainstage series, while 9 Parts (April 22-26, 2009) is one of three works in the second season of PlayMakers' second stage series, PRC2.
The other PRC2 works are the HIV drama, In the Continuum (Sept. 10-14), by Danai Gurira and Nikkole Salter and The Young Ladies Of … (Jan. 7-11, 2009) by and featuring actor-playwright Taylor Mac in an "autobiographical story of a man whose father died quite young, and the son's desire to learn who his father was in order to better understand himself."
On the Mainstage, Pericles (Sept. 24-Oct. 12) will feature original music and songs written especially for this production by Jack Herrick of Chapel Hill's Red Clay Ramblers. PlayMakers' producing artistic director Joseph Haj will direct.
