Writer's Block begins April 23 and represents the theatrical directorial debut of Academy Award-winner Allen, known for his acting, plays, screenplays and film directing.
The world premiere of Writer's Block is comprised of two new one-act comedies — Riverside Drive and Old Saybrook. Riverside Drive takes place on the streets in New York City and Old Saybrook takes place in a house in Connecticut. The Atlantic Theater Company website is www.atlantictheater.org.
Casting is by Bernard Telsey Casting. Juliet Taylor, Allen's longtime collaborator, is the casting consultant. Scenic design is by Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Jim Ingalls with costume design by Laura Bauer.
Neuwirth appeared in Broadway revivals of Chicago, Damn Yankees and Sweet Charity. Reiser is best known as a comedian who starred in the TV series "Mad About You." Portnow is a film, TV and stage actor. Opening is May 15 at Atlantic Theater Company, 336 W. 20th Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, in Manhattan. Writer's Block plays 8 PM Tuesday Sunday, 2 PM Saturday and 3 PM Sunday.
