Glass's music, written for two pianos, strings, and harp, runs for 20 seconds during the opening titles and 30 seconds during the closing credits. It debuts on October 6, during the second broadcast of the show, an updating of the short-lived 1974 supernatural detective show
Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
"I just thought it was very interesting," Glass told the Times. "How do you write a 30-second piece? Everything is extremely compressed. "
Night Stalker is Glass's first TV theme; he is the composer of numerous film scores, including those for The Hours, Kundun, and Godfrey Reggio's "Qatsi" trilogy.
