News New Aguirre-Sacasa Play Featured in Horror-Based Evening of Dread Awakening World premiere plays by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Clay McLeod Chapman, Eric Sanders and Justin Swain comprise the upcoming horror-infused Dread Awakening.

Arin Arbus, Amanda Charlton, Jessica Davis-Irons and Pat Diamond will stage the 90 minute, intermissionless evening which begins April 6th at the 45th Street Theatre for a limited run through April 23.

"Bound by their shared love of the macabre and the supernatural," a release explains, the burgeoning scribes pen tales of "a boyfriend who refuses to reveal his true face, a dead best friend who won't stay dead, a professional who grows unnaturally obsessed with his client and a young couple experiencing horrific events in a car on a deserted highway."

The four works are penned by Aguirre-Sacasa (Based on a Totally True Story, The Mystery Plays), Chapman (The Pumpkin Pie Show), Eric Sanders (It’s a Dry Heat) and Justin Swain (Bump).

The production of Dread Awakening includes sets by Wilson Chin (Christine Jorgensen Revealed) and costumes by Candice Thompson (Faint). The presentation is produced by Michelle Bossy, Alana Karpoff and Eric Sanders of The Thursday Problem through the sponsorship of The Field.
