Matthew Bourne, the man behind the male Swan Lake, is setting up a new company. Bourne, whose Adventure in Motion Pictures has widely been viewed as the most innovative and exciting force in modern British ballet, is setting up a new company, appropriately called "New Adventures."
It is believed that he will put new work through this company while still remaining associated with the old one whose productions, including The Car Man, continue to tour internationally.
Bourne has widened his work interests from ballet to musical theatre, choreographing the revival of My Fair Lady that has been a critical and commercial success at the National and now at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
Bourne is also choreographing the forthcoming revival of South Pacific at the National this winter (the National will announce performance details in October).
