The play, which had its world premiere at the Horovitz-founded Gloucester Stage in Massachusetts this past summer, will begin in February 2007 at Theatre Row.

Before that happens, two other Horovitz works will get productions this winter. Lebensraum, in which a German chancellor invites six million Jews to relocate to Germany, will get a revival at Theatre Row in December, directed by Jonathan Rest. The cast includes T. Ryder Smith (Underneath the Lintel, Thom Pain (based on nothing)), Suli Holum and Ryan Young. The creative team includes Susan Zeeman Rogers (set design), Chris Bailey (lighting and sound design) and Samantha Miller (costume design).

That production begins Dec. 13, opens Dec. 17 and closes Dec. 30. The producer is Studio J Productions in association with Erika Feldman and Adam Fitzgerald.

The other Horovitz production is Israel Horovitz’s New Shorts, the New York premiere of nine new short plays, produced by the Barefoot Theatre Company at the 78th Street Theatre Lab. Previews begin Jan. 17, 2007, opening is Jan. 20, and closing in Feb. 4.

The New York Playwrights Lab, an ever-changing group of 15 playwrights, has over the years included such names as Wendy Wasserstein, Warren Leight and Kenneth Lonergan. Horovitz is the writer of over 50 produced plays, including Line; Park Your Car in Harvard Yard; Morning, Noon and Night; and My Old Lady.

Tickets to Lebensraum, priced $18, are available at or by calling 212-279-4200.

Theatre Row is at 410 West 42nd Street. The 78th Street Theatre Lab is on Broadway at West 78th Street.
