Classic Arts News New Dance Company Debuts in Los Angeles The Los Angeles Modern and Ballet Company (LAMBCO) opens its inaugural season with a gala at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood tonight.
The new company, which blends ballet, modern, and jazz dance, is directed by 24-year-old Omhmar Griffin, a veteran of Washington Ballet, American Ballet Theater, and the Lula Washington Dance Theater.

The fall season, running through October 10, features resident choreographer Robert Gilliam's Endangered Species and three new works, including Griffin's Love Songs, set on songs by Burt Bacharach.

Los Angeles congresswoman Maxine Waters hosts tonight's gala.
