Classic Arts News New Internet Radio Station Focuses on Vocal Music Classical 103.5 WGMS, a classical music station based in Washington, D.C., announced today the launch of VivaLaVoce.com, a new Internet radio station focusing on vocal music.
The station's programming includes opera, choral music, and art songs. Short-form works are presented from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., followed by a full-length opera. Long-form works, such as song cycles and masses, are played through the night from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

According to Jim Allison, the station's program director, VivaLaVoce.com's vocal slant will complement WGMS' instrumental classical approach. "It seemed a perfect extension to provide a venue and an opportunity for listeners to enjoy more focused vocal programming, available worldwide via the Internet."

Playlists, news, and information can be found on the station's website.

Norman Scribner, artistic director of the Choral Arts Society, said of the new venture, "This heralds a new era for lovers of great vocal music."
