News New Musical 1st and Ten Seeks Touchdown in Marriott Reading Marriott Theatre the Lincolnshire, IL, the suburban Chicago institution known for its revivals and commitment to new work, is workshopping the new musical 1st & Ten March 8-9.

The musical by composer David Kreppel and lyricist-librettist Sean Grennan concerns a down-on-its-luck high-school football team in Texas. Grennan's musical Married Alive! was produced by Marriott, and has been seen in productions around North America.

Marriott's private developmental workshop-reading is directed by Joe Leonardo.

The cast includes David Girolmo, Andrew Redlawsk, Kathy Santen, Jessie Mueller, Ann Gunne, Craig Spidle, Roger Mueller, Bernie Yvon, Ryan Reilly, Joe Tokarz, Cheryl Avery, Johanna Miller and Erica Mac.

According to the authors, "1st & Ten is based on the true story of a struggling high school football team in a down at the heels Texas town. Facing disbandment and with no resources from the school, the school janitor, a former player himself, offers to coach the team for free to get it and his player/son through one more season."

No future production timetable has been announced. Grennan's musicals wth Leah Okimoto include Married Alive!, A Dog's Life and Another Night Before Christmas.

Marriott Theatre is run by artistic director Aaron Thielen and managing director Terry James.
