The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, will be the subject of a new musical.

Auditions for singing and non-singing roles will be held in suburban Detroit in May for a show based on Detroit native Franklin's autobiography, according to Associated Press. It's reportedly to launch in Motown in March 2008. The source material for the show is the R&B/soul/pop legend's 1999 memoir, "Aretha: From These Roots."

AP reported that Franklin, 65, will assist in casting and that performers will play her at various ages.

Playbill.com could not immediately learn the names of the producers or creative team for the project.
