Conceived by Kim Rosenstock (Tigers Be Still) and written by Will Connolly (Once), Michael Mitnick (Sex Lives of Our Parents, "The Giver") and Rosenstock, the limited engagement plays through June 29 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater.
Directed by Carolyn Cantor, the cast features Allison Case (Hair, Hands on a Hardbody), Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher, Next to Normal), Tony Award nominee and Obie Award winner Peter Friedman (The Great God Pan, Ragtime), Michael McCormick (Elf, Curtains), Patti Murin (Xanadu, Love's Labour's Lost), Drama Desk Award nominee Bryce Ryness (Hair, First Date) and Obie Award winner Henry Stram (Inherit the Wind, The Crucible).
Here's how the production is billed: "In this darkly comic rock-fable, a melancholy sandwich maker's (Chanler-Berat) hum-drum life is intersected by two entrancing sisters (Case and Murin). A sweeping ode to young love set against the backdrop of the northeast blackout of 1965, Fly By Night is a tale about making your way and discovering hope in a world beset by darkness."
Fly By Night features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Jeff Croiter , sound design by Ken Travis and Alex Hawthorn and music direction by Vadim Feichtne. Kyle Gates is production stage manager, and Sam Pinkleton is choreographer.
