The season opens on January 23 with a performance by pianists Misha and Cipa Dichter. Other artists on the schedule include the Peabody Piano Trio, the Pacifica String Quartet, cellist David Finckel, pianist Wu Han, and the Orion String Quartet. The performers have agreed to waive their fees, although members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, who will perform on March 27, will be paid.
Concerts are held at Dixon Hall in Tulane University. The university suffered $200 million in property damage, forcing it to close for the fall semester.
According to the New Orleans Friends of Music web site, the organization, founded in 1954 by Dr. Ernest Bueding, was the city's first chamber music society.
Yo-Yo Ma, Jean-Pierre Rampal, and Julian Bream are among the artists who have played in Dixon Hall in this series, which is produced entirely by volunteers.
