News New Theatre Music by Vigoda, Milburn, Kahane, Bockley, Pasek and Paul Will Play Joe's Pub The Public Theater's Musical Theater Initiative will present its first Songwriter Showcase, featuring numbers from dawning musicals, 7 PM Oct. 5 at Joe's Pub downtown.

Tony Award winner Ted Sperling (The Light in the Piazza), the respected music director and orchestrator, hosts the evening.

The showcase will feature singer-songwriter Valerie Vigoda performing excerpts from Ernest Shackleton Loves Me by Vigoda and Brendan Milburn; songs from the upcoming musical February House by MTI fellow Gabriel Kahane and Seth Bockley; and new work from the Jonathan Larson Award-winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. A second evening of the New Musical Theater Initiative will be presented at Joe's Pub Nov. 16.
