News New Tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie Finds Its Leading Lady The U.K. tour will kick off in January 2017.

The Tony-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, which made a Broadway star of Sutton Foster, is set to tour the U.K. in 2017, opening at New Wimbledon Theatre January 17.

Directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd, the production will feature musical direction by Tom Turner. The creative/production team also includes casting director Sue Talbert, celebrity casting advisor Bambi Haines, executive producer David King and lead producer Graham King.

World Ballroom Showdance Champion and professional dancer Joanne Clifton (Strictly Come Dancing) will take on the title role of Millie Dillmount, the Kansas girl determined to make it big in New York City. Clifton's credits include Face the Music, Burn the Floor and Strictly Live Tour.

Thoroughly Modern Millie, which is based on Richard Morris’ original story and screenplay for the Universal Pictures Film, features a book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, new music by Jeanine Tesori and new lyrics by Scanlan. The tour is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe) Limited.
