The downtown company will present the New York premiere of Red Speedo by award-winning writer Lucas Hnath (The Christians), directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. Billed as a play that explores "America's obsession with winning at all costs," it takes place on the eve of Olympic swim trials as the pressure for success builds for front-runner Ray.

The new work will be followed by the world premiere of Hadestown by singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell, developed with award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812). The duo have collaborated to transform Mitchell's concept album "Rolling Stone" into a unique new work for the stage. Dubbed as a "folk opera," the piece will follow Orpheus' mythical quest to overcome Hades and reclaim his true love, Eurydice. "Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and poetic imagination pit nature against industry, faith against doubt, and love against death," state press notes.

The productions join the previously announced world premieres of Fondly, Collette Richland, a new play from Elevator Repair Service; and Lazarus, the musical play by David Bowie and celebrated playwright Enda Walsh inspired by the novel "The Man Who Fell to Earth" by Walter Tevis and directed by Ivo Van Hoe.
