Classic Arts News New York City Ballet Opens Winter Season New York City Ballet opens its winter repertory season tonight with a program featuring ballet-master-in-chief Peter Martins' Fearful Symmetries and George Balanchine's Symphony in C and Concerto Barocco.
Fearful Symmetries is set to John Adams' 1988 work; Symphony in C is set to Bizet's Symphony No. 1. Concerto Barocco is set to Bach's Concerto for Two Violins.

Dancers include Yvonne Borree, Nikolaj H‹bbe, Charles Askegard, Benjamin Millepied, Wendy Wheelan, and Jennie Somogyi.

The winter season, which runs through February 26, includes world premieres by resident choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and Martins; Martins' ballet is set to a score by Christopher Rouse. The company also presents Martins' full length Swan Lake, as well as programs drawn from a repertory featuring 16 works by Balanchine, seven works by Robbins, and dances by Martins, Wheeldon, Sean Lavery, and Richard Tanner.
