The series at Merkin Concert Hall opens on October 19 with a program titled "Since the Seventies: A Generation of Song" and featuring music by composers including William Bolcom, John Musto, Adam Guettel, and John Corigliano.
The French program, on March 8, 2006, includes music by Satie, Chabrier and Ravel; singers include mezzo-soprano Marie Lenormand and baritone Hugh Russell.
Other programs include a reprise of last season's "Fats and Fields," with music by Dorothy Fields and Fats Waller; "Godmothers of Song," featuring music commissioned by women; and a program of zarzuela with soprano Dina Kuznetsova.
NYFOS was founded in 1988 by pianists Steven Blier and Michael Barrett. Both appear throughout the season.
