Classic Arts News New York Offers Boys Choir of Harlem Some Use of School The New York City Department of Education has said it will allow the Boys Choir of Harlem to continue to use its city-owned facility after school hours if management changes are instigated, reports the Associated Press.
The Department of Education previously asked the choir to vacate the school on 127th Street entirely for several reasons, including the choir's failure to uphold a 2004 agreement to find a new chief executive to replace Walter Turnbull. Turnball was accused of ignoring reports that an employee was sexually abusing a student and was subsequently demoted to artistic director.

The financially troubled choir has not yet responded to the city's offer. The department estimated the value of the choir's use of the facility at $550,000 a year.
