The opening performance, at Seoul's Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, features Korean pianist Kun-Woo Paik performing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3. The all-Prokofiev program also includes the composer's Symphony No. 5 and a suite from the ballet Romeo and Juliet.

Paik's recording of the complete Prokofiev concertos with the Polish Radio Symphony won France's Diapason d'Or in 1993.

The Philharmonic stays in Seoul for concerts on October 15 and 17 before traveling to Daejeon, Korea, on October 18. The orchestra performs in Tokyo on October 21, 22, 27, and 28, and in Fukui, Japan on October 24.

Repertoire for the trip includes Beethoven's Egmont Overture, the overture to Wagner's Tannh‹user, and Dvoršk's Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World"). Among the guest soloists are Korean violinist Yura Lee and Korean pianist Yeol-Eum Son, as well as Japanese violinist Sayaka Shoji, who made her debut with the Philharmonic in New York earlier this month.
