The opening night concert, led by Bramwell Tovey, includes the orchestral version of Gershwin's Strike Up the Band, the Polovtsian Dances from Borodin's Prince Igor, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Lang Lang as soloist, and selected songs by Gershwin and Bernstein sung by Audra McDonald.

The 4,800-seat summer pavilion will also host a two-day Woodstock anniversary concert the weekend of August 12-13; performers, who will include luminaries from the Woodstock generation, will be announced later. There will be a jazz festival directed by vocalist Dianne Reeves on July 22-23.

The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is the brainchild of cable television entrepreneur Alan Gerry, who bought the Woodstock site in the 1990s. His nonprofit Gerry Foundation will operate the site.

Gerry said, "Bethel Woods is one of the most important and exciting projects the Hudson Valley has seen in a generation. It is my fondest hope that this performing arts center will recapture the magic of this historic site and make our region one of the country's top performing arts destinations."
