Classic Arts News New York Philharmonic's Spring Gala Benefit to Feature Film Music A program of great American movie scores will be featured at the New York Philharmonic's spring gala benefit on April 12, the orchestra announced.
Leonard Slatkin, music director of the National Symphony Orchestra, will lead the New York Philharmonic and violinist Itzhak Perlman in works by Elmer Bernstein, Leonard Bernstein, Charlie Chaplin, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Hermann, Michael Kamen, Erich Korngold, Alfred Newman, Lionel Newman, Randy Newman, Howard Shore, and John Williams.

The program, called Music From the Movies, features excerpts from the scores to Marnie, Wuthering Heights, Gone With the Wind, On the Waterfront, The Magnificent Seven, Laura, Mr. Holland's Opus, Schindler's List, Toy Story, and The Lord of the Rings.

Tickets for the concert, which is preceded with a cocktail reception and is followed by dinner on the grand promenade of Avery Fisher Hall, are $50-$150.
