News New York Premiere of Vietgone Finds Its Cast The Manhattan Theatre Club production will begin performances this fall.
Qui Nguyen Jesse Dittmar

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced full casting for the New York premiere of Vietgone by Qui Nguyen with direction by May Adrales. Inspired by the playwright’s own life, the production will be seen Off-Broadway this fall.

The cast will be made up of Jon Hoche (national tour of War Horse, The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G), Jennifer Ikeda (Top Girls, Seascape), Raymond Lee (Farah Goes Bang), Samantha Quan (4 Wedding Planners, NCIS) and Paco Tolson (Peter and the Starcatcher at South Coast Rep).

Performances are set to begin October 4 in advance of an opening night on October 25 at MTC at New York City Center – Stage I, located at 131 West 55th Street, New York.

“Borrowing elements from the world of up-to-the-minute popular culture to recreate the playwright’s own parents’ meeting, Vietgone ranges from hilarity to heart-wrenching drama,” state MTC press notes. The story is billed as a “modern twist” on the all-American love story about two refugees from the Vietnam War who are newly settled in a relocation camp in Middle America.

The creative team for Vietgone features Tim Mackabee (scenic design), Anthony Tran (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), Shane Rettig (original music and sound design) and Jared Mezzocchi (projection design).

Single tickets are available by calling CityTix at (212) 581-1212, online by visiting nycitycenter.org, or by visiting the New York City Center box office, located at 131 West 55th Street, New York.
