News New York Theatre Workshop Garners Annual Edwin Booth Award The Doctoral Theatre Students Association of the Graduate Center of the City University of New York have given this year's Edwin Booth Award to New York Theatre Workshop.

The Booth award — established in 1983 — is given "to honor an individual or organization that has had a significant impact on theatre and performance in New York." Named for the actor, the award winner is selected by members of the DTSA.

The New York Theatre Workshop have been producing shows in downtown Manhattan for over 20 years, cultivating works such as Jonathan Larson's Rent and Claudia Shear's Dirty Blonde. Other production that have highlighted their seasons include Maria Irene Fornes' Mud, a number of Caryl Churchill works (Mad Forest, Traps, Owners, and this season's Far Away), Tony Kushner's Slavs! and Homebody/Kabul, Mark Ravenhill's Shopping and Fucking, Paul Scott Goodman's Bright Lights Big City and Paul Rudnick's The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.
