News NEWSical The Musical Will Celebrate 1,000th Performance Off-Broadway NEWSical the Musical, the Off-Broadway musical revue by Rick Crom that opened in January 2011, will celebrate its 1,000th performance June 3 at Theatre Row’s Kirk Theatre on 42nd Street.

"One thousand shows is such a thrilling milestone to hit,” said producer Tom D’Angora in a statement. “It's truly been a team effort to keep our show going strong. Everyone has worked so tirelessly. I'm extremely proud of the whole NEWSical family."

NEWSical The Musical began previews Dec. 13, 2010, and officially opened Jan. 9, 2011, at Theatre Row's Kirk Theatre. The current company includes original cast members Michael West and Tommy Walker, who are joined by Susan Mosher, Carly Sakolove, Dylan Thompson and Kristen Manglekoch. The latest topics being parodied include global warming, Justin Bieber, Amanda Bynes, the new Pope and the economy.

NEWSical The Musical was named Best New Musical of 2011 by the Off Broadway Alliance.

The show is directed by Mark Waldrop and produced by D’Angora. Rounding out the creative team are Ed Goldschneider (music director), Jason Courson (set designer) and Ryan Obermeier (stage manager).
