News Newsies Adam Kaplan and Bare's Sara Kapner Are Dust and Ash Tonight; Lisa Brescia Also Stars Alex Rubin's original short play Dust and Ash, featuring Adam Kaplan, Sara Kapner and Lisa Brescia, is performed Sept. 8 at Irish Exit as part of SoYoCo's September networking event.

Here's how Dust and Ash is billed: "Years from now, a woman sits in a bomb shelter as the world falls apart outside, considering whether or not to open her door. Dust and Ash features the meeting of three refugees of the former United States, each going to extremes to protect what they have left, each wanting a little more."

The cast includes Kaplan (Newsies) as Dust, Kapner (Off-Broadway's Bare) as Ash and Brescia (Mamma Mia!, Wicked) as Teena.

The 7-10 PM event also includes drink specials and raffles, including two tickets to Sex Trips for a Straight Women from a Gay Man and a $25 bar tab.

Rubin is a New York City-based writer whose plays include First Love (The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences); The Brothers Landry (The Dramatists Guild); The Song of Hiroshima (commissioned by Paul Capon); First Dance (The Union Club); What Flood Means in Football (45th Street Theatre); and Can't Die, Too Excited (Thunderclap Productions). Musicals and cabarets include At the Edge (Theater for the New City); Sorry, Not Sorry (45th Street Theatre); and The Best Little Hoarder in Television (BMI Workshop). Her songs have been featured in concerts at 54 Below, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, Temple University, Broadway Sessions, The Triad, Le Poisson Rouge, The Duplex and The Metropolitan Room.
