Like You Like It songwriters Daniel S. Acquisto (music) and Sammy Buck (lyrics) collaborated with Drama Desk-nominated Wanda's World book writer Eric H. Weinberger on the new musical about a young performer finding his way in life in the early 1980's.

Igor Goldin, who staged the 2010 Luna Stage premiere of ...And Then I Wrote A Song About It, will also stage the Diversionary run, which begins March 25. Performances will continue through April 10.

Cearley appeared in the national tour of All Shook Up and regional productions of Pageant, Altar Boyz and The Great American Trailer Park Musical.

Here's how the creators describe the musical: "Set to the rhythm of the disco era and beyond, this earnest yet uproarious musical breaks new ground with its tour-de-force cast of one. The musical follows the adventures of a perspiring actor-singer-songwriter-dancer-secretary as he searches for love and fame in the early 1980s."

According to Weinberger, "The genesis of the show is that I wanted to write something for Nick, because I think he’s such an extraordinary talent. I went back to prehistoric times, when I was in my late 20s and early 30s, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and trying to find myself. I approached Dan and Sammy about writing the score because I had gotten to know and like them and admire their work – I am so delighted to have had the experience of working with them." …And then I Wrote a Song About It has original choreography by Antoinette DiPietropolo. Thomas Hodges will conduct.

Acquisto and Buck's musicals include The 7-Year B*tch, The Frog & the Witch, Matthew Takes Mannahatta (book by Aurin Squire), Barry the Hatchet, and the NYMF-commissioned dance piece Andy Warhol Was Right. They are also creating The Ugly Swan and are contributing writers for the Rent-inspired musical Speargrove Presents.

Weinberger's works include Class Mothers ’68, Six Hands, The Nightwatchman. His musical Wanda's World is hoping for a 2011 Broadway debut.
