Akers follows the previously announced Ute Lemper, who plays the nightspot Sept. 14-19. Maureen McGovern heads to Le Jazz Au Bar Aug. 11-22. In addition to her work in the Tommy Tune production of Nine, Akers also starred on Broadway in another Tune-directed musical, Grand Hotel. Her feature film credits include "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Heartburn" and "Vibes," and she was seen in an episode of the hit TV series "Cheers." It's been the concert/cabaret stage, however, where Akers has garnered the most acclaim, performing in choice venues throughout the United States and Europe. Akers' recordings are numerous; her eighth solo recording, "If We Only Have Love," recently hit stores on the DRG label.
