Backed by a sextet, singer-pianist Michael Feinstein will entertain at the State Theatre of New Brunswick, NJ, April 24. The venue's 11th annual benefit gala, this year titled "Rhapsody in Blue - a Gala Evening of Romance and Celebration," will be followed by a gourmet meal and silent auction at the nearby Hyatt Regency. Feinstein has long been associated with the Gershwins, ever since he worked with lyricist Ira shortly before the composer's death. Among Feinstein's 16 albums are "Over There," devoted to songs of World War I, and the jazz-oriented disk, "Michael & George - Feinstein Sings Gershwin." Feinstein's light tenor and knowledgeable patter about showtune standards have brought him to Carnegie Hall, the White House and a couple of stints on Broadway.

For tickets ($20-40 show only; $250 for the evening) and information on the Feinstein concert at the State Theatre call (732) 246-7469.
