Classic Arts News No Agreement Yet for Montreal Symphony Orchestra Musicians and Management Negotiations continue between Montreal Symphony Orchestra musicians and management, but some musicians are beginning to worry, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Because August is the beginning of what is usually a six-week hiatus for the orchestra there is some concern that a failure to reach an agreement soon could affect the upcoming season, and could damage the orchestra's reputation.

Musicians are currently paid $600 per week in strike pay, an amount that goes up to $900 per week if the strike continues. Musicians are not, however, paid during the hiatus. Some of them are taking on other jobs in order to get by.

According to the Gazette, the musicians' association is currently looking at a counter-offer made by management last week.
