News Noll and Minarik Set for Ethan Frome Musical Reading A by-invitation-only reading of the new musical Ethan Frome: An American Romance will be presented May 6.

Christiane Noll and Michael Minarik, who co-starred in the national tour of Urinetown, will reunite for the reading, which will also feature the talents of Leah Horowitz (The Woman in White, La Cage aux Folles) and Nick Dalton (Las Vegas Hairspray). Daniel T. Lavender directs.

Ethan Frome — based on Edith Wharton's classic 1911 novella — has music and lyrics by Adam Gwon and a book by Michael Ruby.

The musical, according to press notes, is described as such: "Ethan Frome, a poor farmer, is unhappily married to Zeena, a demanding and overbearing hypochondriac. When Zeena's younger cousin Mattie comes to live with them, Ethan is driven by his star-crossed love for Mattie, which makes the pair suffer devastating consequences."

Christiane Noll, who was part of the out-of-town tryout of The Mambo Kings, made her Broadway debut as Emma Carew in Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde. She later joined the Broadway company of It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and starred in the City Center Encores! production of Out of This World. Noll appeared in the national tours of Urinetown, Grease!, Miss Saigon and City of Angels, and she has recorded three solo albums: "Christiane Noll — A Broadway Love Story" (Varese Sarabande Records), "Live at the Westbank Café," (Car-Jam Records) and "The Ira Gershwin Album" (Fynsworth Alley).

Michael Minarik has been seen in the national tours of Little Women, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Maury Yeston's Phantom. The reading is being produced by The York Theatre Company and Lively Arts Productions. A fully-staged workshop of Ethan Frome will be seen in May at The University of Oklahoma.
