News Northlight to Welcome Morton, Mahoney, Reed, Nussbaum, Wonderettes in 2009-10 Northlight Theatre's 2009-10 season — its 35th in suburban Chicago — will include Amy Morton directing Tony Award winner Rondi Reed and Mike Nussbaum in Awake and Sing, and John Mahoney starring in Hugh Leonard's A Life.

Artistic director BJ Jones and executive director Timothy J. Evans announced the new season on March 18. The slate includes Roger Bean's pop four-actress musical revue, The Marvelous Wonderettes, a popular Off-Broadway and regional title about a girl-group singing at their 1958 prom and reuniting a decade later (September-October); Stephen Temperley's two-actor comic musical tribute about no-talent opera singer Florence Foster Jenkins, Souvenir, directed by David Bell (November-December); Clifford Odets' Depression-era classic Awake and Sing, about a New York family redefining itself, directed by Morton and featuring her August: Osage County co-star Reed and Windy City star Nussbaum (January-February 2010); and Leonard's Irish drama, A Life, directed by Jones, starring "Frasier" star and Chicago staple Mahoney as Desmond Drumm, looking back on his Irish village life (March-April 2010). One additional production will be announced for June-July 2010.
