News Now Underway, Algonquin's Second International Festival of Cabaret Runs Through Oct. 16 The Algonquin Second International Festival of Cabaret, which launched Sept. 6, will run in the Oak Room through Oct. 16. The Algonquin Second International Festival of Cabaret, which launched Sept. 6, will run in the Oak Room through Oct. 16. Two artists comprise the bill. Appearing in repertory are French Baritone Michel Hermon and South African Vocalist Natalie Gamsu.

As reported earlier, the Second International Festival of Cabaret dovetails with, but is separate from the Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention scheduled for early October.

At the Oak Room, Hermon performs his Dietrich show, "Awake in a Dream," while Gamsu performs a show influenced by numerous cultures, that is dedicated to the poetry of solitude and independence.

Hermon and Gamsu perform every Sunday and Monday evening through Oct. 9. There is no show Oct. 15. A final performance featuring both artists takes place on Oct. 16. Hermon and Gamsu switch days each week, alternating between either the Sunday or Monday show.

A $15 minimum applies. Dinner is optional with seating beginning two hours prior to the 9 PM show. The Algonquin's Oak Room is located at 59 W. 44 St. For reservations call (212) 840-6800. -- By Murdoch McBride
