[Now in its second year, the New York International Fringe Festival takes over Manhattan's Lower East Side Aug. 19-30. More than 144 productions hailing from across the country and around the world will take part in the Fest, which occupies nearly every viable theatre space in the vicinity. The International WOW Company, which includes artist from Thailand, Taiwan, Pakistan, Australia, Indonesia, Canada, Japan, and the U. S., will be showing their adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, in the NYC Fringe Festival, Aug. 21-29.

In WOW's version, Alice's Evidence, Wonderland is a vastly dangerous landscape of slamming doors, ticking clocks and intensive physicality. Evidence transforms traditionally popular characters like the White Rabbit and the Caterpillar into strange pedophiles and hypochondriacs -- a far cry from the popular Disney cartoon.
