News NYC Prof'l Children's School Honors Hamlisch & Hart at 85th Year Gala, May 3 The Professional Children's School will celebrate its 85th anniversary May 3 at the Hudson Theatre with a one night only performance by its student body and the presentation of the Richard Rodgers Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts to PCS alumnus Marvin Hamlisch and New York State Council on the Arts Chairman Emerita, Kitty Carlisle Hart.

The Professional Children's School will celebrate its 85th anniversary May 3 at the Hudson Theatre with a one night only performance by its student body and the presentation of the Richard Rodgers Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts to PCS alumnus Marvin Hamlisch and New York State Council on the Arts Chairman Emerita, Kitty Carlisle Hart.

Since its foundation in 1914 for the education of New York's stage children, Professional Children's School has held a benefit for the school, this year to fund the tuition assistance program. Current PCS students who will perform include film actors from "Step Mom," "Ten Things I Hate About You" and "The Mighty", dancers from the New York City Ballet Company and Broadway performers from Diary of Anne Frank, Les Miserables, The Lion King and Titanic.

Alumni of the Professional Children's School have included Adam Arkin, Charlotte d'Amboise, Carrie Fisher, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amy Irving, Yo Yo Ma, Midori, Sarah Jessica Parker, Christina Ricci, Christian Slater, Beverly Sills, Uma Thurman, Dick Van Patten and Christopher Walken.

Tickets for the benefit range from a $100 Young Alumnus ticket to Benefactors Tables at $10,000. Cocktails and the silent auction begin at 6:30 PM with a dinner and peformance to follow. For reservations, call the Benefit line at (212) 582-3116 ext. 118.
