Move over Lassie and Benji. Thanks to the adobe theatre company [sic], children's dog heros have a new canine in their midst: Poona, the brave mutt at the center of Jeff Goode's Poona the Fuckdog and Other Stories for Children, running Nov. 24-Dec. 17 at the Ohio Theater. adobe artistic director Jeremy Dobrish directs. A musical parody of children's theatre, Poona follows the travels of the erstwhile hero as Poona follows the desires of the Fairy God Phallus and meets up with a cast of strange friends and strangers including Rabbit, Suzy-Suzy Cybersassin, Mr. Beer, a talking television and The Almighty God Himself.

Duet's Erin Quinn Purcell portrays Poona. Also in the cast are Arthur Aulisi, Jeremy Briesel, Peter Dinklage, Frank Ensenberger, Arthur Halpern, Margaret Howard, Vin Knight, Kathryn Langwell, Bob Newton, Shaun Powell, Jay Reiss, Jay Rosenbloom, Beau Ruland and Dave Slivken.

Duet's Michael Garin will provide the tunes. Garin co-starred in and co-wrote Songs of Singapore for which he was given the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle Awards.

Designing Poona are Matt Maraffi (sets), Michael Gottlieb (lighting), Bernard Grenier (costumes) and Jill Du Boff (sound).
