One sheep, two sheep, three sheep...

Many people try the old trick of counting sheep if you can't fall asleep. While that may be the answer for some insomniacs, it's not for the title character in Wide-Awake Jake. The musical adventure of this youngster can be seen at Manhattan's TADA! July 13-Aug. 5.

Based on the book by Helen Young, Wide-Awake Jake finds our hero spending his sleepless night venturing on a magical trip to the land of Yawn. Once there, he encounters the inhabitant Yami and discovers the might of Yawn Power.

With a book by Alice Elliott, music by Robby Merkinf and lyrics by Faye Greenberg, the production is directed by TADA! artistic director Janine Nina Trevens. Dani Altiere carves out the choreography and Tammy Holder handles musical/vocal direction.

For, playing at the TADA! Theater, 120 W. 28th St., (between 6th and 7th Avenues), call (212) 627-1732. For further information on the show or the company and its programs, visit their website at www.tadatheater.com. — by Ernio Hernandez
