News NYMF's Villa Diodati Opens Its Doors Sept. 22 at the 45th Street Theatre Literary greats Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley and Lord Byron come to life in the NYMF musical Villa Diodati, which begins performances at the 45th Street Theatre Sept. 22.

Rob Urbinati directs the production, which runs through Oct. 4. Populating the cast are Sarah Arikian (Ragtime), Mark Campbell (Mamma Mia), Elizabeth Cherry (The Fantasticks), Lauren Hauser (Madame Bovary: the Musical) and Sal Sabella (Phantom of the Opera).

Villa Diodati features a score by Mira J. Spektor, lyrics by Colette Inez and a book by both Spektor and Inez. "An American couple visits Villa Diodati the location where Mary Shelley wrote 'Frankenstein,'" according to press notes. "Past and present intermingle as Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and others come to vivid life in this haunting tale of demons, obsessions and the creation of art."

The musical features designs by Andis Gjoni (set design), Je Nash (lighting design), Sidney Shannon (costume design) and David M. Lawson (sound design). Musical direction is by Thomas Carlo Bo.
