News Obie Winner Barbara Vann Directs and Stars in Cole Porter's Fifty Million Frenchmen, Beginning Oct. 24 Fifty Million Frenchmen, Cole Porter's 1929 musical about Americans abroad — singing such lines as "do do that voodoo that you do so well" — enjoys a Manhattan revival by Medicine Show Theatre Ensemble beginning Oct. 24.

Directed by Medicine Show artistic director, Obie winner Barbara Vann, performances are scheduled through Nov. 18. Opening night is Oct. 27.

The cast features director Vann as well as Jarrod Bates, Cari Bell, Robert Bellsey, Mark J. Dempsey, Beth Griffith, Richard Gross, Michael Levi Harris, Renee Hermiz, Maria Hoffmann, Evan Kaplan, Richard Keyser, Gulshan Mia, Marvin Riggins and Becca Shimkin.

Musical director Bob Goldstone conducts a live band that includes Jake Lloyd on keyboards.

Fifty Million Frenchmen has music and lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Herbert Fields. The plot, according to press notes, "revolves around the tale of an ex-pat American millionaire in Paris who, on a bet, must woo a young woman he adores while pretending to be penniless."

Performances are Wednesday at 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 4 PM. The theatre is located at 549 W. 52nd Street, 3rd Floor, near 11th Ave.
