Peter Zablotsky’s Off the Meter officially opens for an open-ended run at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Manhattan, June 22. Performances began June 14.

Off the Meter fulfills many people's fantasies, as characters become their boss’ boss. It tells the story of Johnson, an investment banker in a prominent Wall Street firm, and Eddie, a cab driver. Both men do all the work and get none of the credit. Both are going nowhere (even though one does drive a cab). Sick of being unappreciated, the two team up and plan a scam that will give them their just rewards.

A spokesman for the show describedOff the Meter as a “comedy drama... [with] funny moments and serious moments.”

The cast features David Blackman, Kent C. Jackman, Gary Lowery, and Tim Miller. It is under the direction of John Ahlers. Other design members include S. Ryan Schmitt (lighting), Ray Schilke and David Gilman (sound), Joseph LaCourt (costumes) and Walter Theodore (set).

Playwright Zablotsky made his Off-Broadway debut with H. Finn Esq.in 1998. In addition to writing, Zablotsky is a Full Professor of Law at Touro College. Director Ahlers collaborated with him for the production of H. Finn Esq. Ahler’s other credits include The Pool with Five Porches and The Compatriots. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by calling Ticket Central (212) 279 4200 or on-line at www.offthemeter.com. The Hudson Guild Theatre is located at 441 West 26 Street.
