Recently presented at the Long Wharf Theatre, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and director James Lapine again co-directs the work with Darren Katz. I Got Sick, Then I Got Better will be presented May 15-17 in Barrington's Stage 2.

I Got Sick, Then I Got Better, which will premiere Off-Broadway at the New York Theatre Workshop this fall, was born from Allen's diagnosis and treatment for ovarian cancer in 2005. The monologue is described as "the tale of one woman's adventures after falling down the medical rabbit hole."

Allen appeared in Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell and regularly performs stand-up comedy in Manhattan. Following its premiere in 2007 on Martha's Vineyard, Allen developed I Got Sick with Lapine and Darren Katz.

Lapine is the award-winning librettist and director of the Stephen Sondheim musicals Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods and Passion. He has also collaborated on the William Finn musicals Falsettos, A New Brain and The 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee. His plays include Fran's Bed, Twelve Dreams, The Moment When, Table Settings and Luck, Pluck and Virtue.
