The co-presentation with New York's Public Theater — where the show played earlier this season — opens Feb. 11 for a run through March 14. Loretta Greco directs a company that includes newcomers since New York (where Erika Alexander, Phylicia Rashad, Stephen Kunken and Damon Gupton appeared in choice key roles).

In The Story, an ambitious African-American reporter lands a job at a major newspaper and uncovers the truth behind a murder, but soon finds herself amid racial and sexual politics. The play was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2002.

The cast features original Off-Broadway players Kalimi Baxter, Tammi Clayton, Michelle Hurst and Sarah Grace Wilson joined by David Wilson Barnes, Duane Boutté, Lizzy Cooper Davis, Christen Simon and Sharon Washington for the Connecticut run.

Wilson, a playwriting fellow at New York Theatre Workshop, has also penned A Small World (Guthrie Theater), Exhibit #9 (New Georges Theater) and the musical Order My Steps (Cornerstone Theatre).

The New York run began performances Nov. 18, 2003, and opened Dec. 10 at the Public Theater's Anspacher Theater. The design team for The Story includes Robert Brill (scenic), Emilio Sosa (costume), James Vermeulen (lighting) and Robert Kaplowitz (sound and original music).
