Off-Broadway's Unconditional Delays World Premiere Start; Doman Joins Cast

News   Off-Broadway's Unconditional Delays World Premiere Start; Doman Joins Cast
The LAByrinth Theater Company's world premiere of Brett C. Leonard's Unconditional has pushed back its Off-Broadway start due to "technical reasons," according to a release. There has also been a cast change: "The Wire" actor John Doman has replaced the previously announced William Forsythe.

Mark Wing-Davey directs the work, which will play The Public Theater's LuEsther Hall. The show was scheduled to start Feb. 7 and open Feb. 18 for a limited run slated through March 2. Previews will now begin Feb. 10, and the run will now close March 9. Opening night remains the same. Ticketholders can contact (212) 967-7555 with any concerns.

From the LAB vet who penned Guinea Pig Solo comes a new play in which "nine New York stories converge in a racially and sexually charged tale of rage, love, justice and betrayal." (The author capitalizes the entire title: UNCONDITIONAL.)

Anna Chlumsky stars in the work opposite Doman (Deputy Commissioner William A. Rawls on "The Wire"), Kevin Geer (Twelve Angry Men, Side Man), Saidah Arrika Ekulona (Well), Yolonda Ross ("Shortbus," "I'm Not There") and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. (The Iceman Cometh) along with LAByrinth company members Chris Chalk (The Overwhelming), Trevor Long (Defiance) and Elizabeth Rodriguez (The Last Days of Judas Iscariot).

The design team will feature Mark Wendland (set), Mimi O'Donnell (costumes), Japhy Weideman (lighting) and Bart Fasbender (sound).

Chlumsky — known for her film work in "Uncle Buck" and "My Girl" — has taken to the stage in recent years, having appeared in Measure for Measure, Darwin in Malibu, Half Life, The Butcherhouse Chronicles and most recently in Off-Broadway's Fabulous Life of a Size Zero. The production will be staged in the round, and pricing for the show will be tiered. Tickets are available by phone at (212) 967-7555, online at or in person at the box office (425 Lafayette Street).
