The 73-seat theatre is part of a Romanesque Revival-style, red-brick apartment building. Soho Think Tank currently performs at 3 Legged-Dog, below the World Trade Center.

The Archive Building is owned by Rockrose Development Corp., who created the theatre space in an agreement with the City of New York during the building's commercial development in 1988.

The Ohio Theatre's address from 1981 to 2010 was 66 Wooster Street at Soho. The theatre first produced early works by Tony Kushner, Anne Bogart and Eve Ensler, as well as the work of more recent companies, including Elevator Repair Service, Les Freres Corbusier and The Foundry Theatre. The Ohio Theatre closed in August 2010.

Soho Think Tank artistic director Robert Lyons said in a statement, “We are going with the name Ohio West. ‘The Ohio Theatre’ on Wooster Street was a unique physical space with a specific place in downtown theatre history that will not -- and cannot -- be replicated. We want to evoke the legacy of that space and our history there, while at the same time marking the beginning of something entirely new.”
