Robert Spano, the music director of both the festival and the ASO, will lead the orchestra in a concert version of Ainadamar. Dawn Upshaw, who appeared in the opera's premiere at Tanglewood in 2003 and in a revised version at Santa Fe Opera this year, will reprise the role of Margarita Xirgu.
Upshaw will also appear in recital; the program has not yet been determined.
Also on the ASO's programs are Golijov's Oceana, John Adams' Chamber Symphony, Steve Reich's Tehillim, and works by de Falla. Vocalist Luciana Souza joins the orchestra for two concerts.
Other events include a performance of choral music by the Atlanta Symphony Chamber Chorus and a symposium on Golijov's music.
